Rain and lightning cut into the first part of the Liberty Block Party, but the skies cleared and Travis Tritt took the stage.
The Liberty Block Party returned Friday night to downtown St. Cloud after years in Whitney Park. A sea of people, many who brought lawn chairs, gathered in Liberty Square to watch Tritt’s show.
Country musician Tritt told the crowd he would be performing many of his classic hits.
“I hope some of you still remember those,” Tritt said to big cheers.
Brianna Rajkowski, a Sauk Rapids resident, sang along to one song.
“I remember some of his songs growing up,” she said. This was Rajkowski’s first time attending the block party.
St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis said the new location might even have been better for Friday night’s weather. The 5 p.m. start time was postponed by two hours, but the concrete in Liberty Square soaked up the rain fast. The Liberty Block Party is part of St. Cloud’s Granite City Days.
Whitney Park would have been a muddy mess for the large crowd, Kleis said. And the delay was no big deal; every year the Liberty Block Party is threatened with rain, or gets hit by rain, he said.
“The sun came out, and it’s a beautiful night,” he said.
Wendy Moe and Dale Gerads said they preferred having the block party at Whitney because they could walk there from their St. Cloud home.
“It was convenient,” she said.
Brad Kensy of St. Augusta said he’s a country fan, but he came to the Liberty Block because “it’s free, let’s be honest.” He liked that it was downtown this year.
“It’s nice that it’s closer to the bars and stuff,” he said.
Sartell High School students Nikki Walters and Bailey Offerdahl said they came specifically to hear Tritt sing “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive.” They play golf for Sartell, and that song is a team favorite for motivation.
“It just really got you in the mood,” Walters said.

Travis Tritt isn’t the only talented one in his family. His daughter, Tyler Reese, has a beautiful voice that just needs to be heard as well. Fortunately, they came out with a stunning father-daughter duet that showcases both of their immense talents. Travis and his daughter performed the popular 90s song, “Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough” and it was amazing.
“Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough” is a rock ballad released in 1992 by Patty Smyth andDon Henley, the founding member of the Eagles. It peaked at #1 on three different charts. The song tells the story of two former lovers and how they’re trying to move on with their lives and make sense of what happened.
We already know Travis‘ talent, but now we also know he passed on that gene to his daughter because their duet is phenomenal – something that we could listen to over and over again. They harmonize beautifully to the point where y’all will most likely get chills.

SOMETIMES LOVE JUST AIN’T ENOUGH – LYRICS
Now I don’t wanna lose you
But I don’t wanna use you
Just to have somebody by my side
And I don’t wanna hate you
I don’t wanna take you
But I don’t wanna be the one to cry
And that don’t really matter to anyone, anymore
But like a fool I keep losing my place
And I keep seeing you walk through that door
But there’s a danger in loving somebody too much
And its sad when you know it’s your heart you can’t trust
There’s a reason why people don’t stay where they are
Baby sometimes love just ain’t enough
Now I could never change you
And I don’t wanna blame you
Baby you don’t have to take the fall
Yes I may have hurt you
But I did not desert you
Maybe I just want to have it all
It makes a sound like thunder, it makes me feel like rain
And like a fool who will never see the truth
I keep thinking something’s gonna change
But there’s a danger in loving somebody too much
And its sad when you know it’s your heart you can’t trust
There’s a reason why people don’t stay where they are
Baby sometimes love just ain’t enough
And there’s no way home
When it’s late at night and you’re all alone
Are there things that you wanted to say
And do you feel me beside you in your bed?
There beside you, where I used to lay
And there’s a danger in loving somebody too much
And it’s sad when you know it’s your heart they can’t touch
There’s a reason why people don’t stay who they are
Baby sometimes love just ain’t enough
Baby sometimes love, it just ain’t enough
